The hotel is conveniently located in the South of Iceland between Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park, about 28 km (17 miles) from each attraction. Although, Fosshótel Glacier Lagoon is located in a remote area it's strategically located to reach iconic attractions in the south. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is just a short drive, about 30 minutes, from the hotel and is famous for its floating icebergs, boat tours, and seals that can be seen swimming around. On the other side of the road you'll find Diamond Beach, a black-sand beach that is scattered with icebergs from the glacier lagoon. 

In the other direction from Fosshótel Glacier Lagoon, guests find Skaftafell National Park, about 30 minutes away. At the park guests find a variety of hiking trails, including routes that lead to waterfalls and glacier viewpoints. The most popular trail leads you to Svartifoss Waterfall. The waterfall is one of the most iconic natural wonders of Iceland due to its unique black basalt columns surrounding the waterfall.

In the area surrounding the hotel there are many ice caves. Guests can join a guided Ice Cave Tour too, to explore blue caves that appear and change every year inside the glacier.
