Skip the part where you need to wait for a pick up and switch busses and jump right into the adventure with your own driver and vehicle. A luxury which if you are a bigger group is not even more expensive than joining a scheduled tour.
Afterwards we leave Reykjavik and drive along the south coast, passing the towns of Hveragerði and Selfoss. With reasonable weather you are likely to see the Westman Islands. Along the way we pass the famous waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. If you like your driver can make a short stop here and allow you to take some pictures. Of course you will also have stops for food, drink and comfort.
After passing the towns of Vik and Kirkjubæjarklaustur we reach the glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón. Here you can see giant icebergs move from the glacier towards the ocean. Some of them are brought back to land nearby which is why the beach nearby is often called diamond beach. From the beach you also get a great view at Vatnajökull glacier from where the ice bergs originate.
In the lagoon itself you may see seals swimming between the icebergs. After a boat ride (not included) we head back to Reykjavik. We arrive in Reykjavik around 22:00.
If you wish for more information during your tour we recommend you book the option with guide. This option allows your group to be up to fourteen passengers and your guide will also be your driver. He will be able to provide stories and further information on and during your stops.

This waterfall in South Iceland is one of the biggest waterfall in Iceland, measuring 25 meters wide and approximately 60 meters deep. With so much water flowing down, you will usually be able to see a single or even a double rainbow in front of Skógafoss on sunny days. If you have enough time you can take the stairs to the top of the waterfall and enjoy a great view. The river Skógá ('forrest river') plunges down the former coastline. At the bottom you will find the village Skógar with a popular museum that exhibits Iceland's past.
Near Vik you will experience the black beach Reynisfjara. Please be careful when wandering on the beach since the currents can be strong due to the fact that it is the open ocean. By the beach you find the restaurant "black beach" which since it opened a few years ago has become increasingly popular.
The river Seljalandsá which originates in the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier plunges down about 60 meters. What makes this waterfall really special, however, is that you are able to walk behind it. Just remember to bring good shoes and a waterproof jacket, you might get wet! The ground behind the waterfall is not paved and uneven so please always be careful.
At Jökulsárlón you will see icebergs which break of Vatnajökull glacier float into the ocean.
The lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during the winter. A great addition to this experience is taking a boat tour.
