The lava center in Hvolsvöllur was just recently opened. It offers an inside into volcanoes and everything related to them. It is an interactive exhibition explaining volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. The center introduces the Katla Geopark plus Iceland's elaborate monitoring system for surveying volcanoes and earthquake zones.
