The Sambíó in Álfabakki Cinema (formerly known as BÍÓHÖLLINN) is based in the suburbs of Reykjavík or more precisely the mighty Breiðholt. Reykjavík´s largest district with over 20.000 people. The cinema was built in 1982 and was at the time the largest cinema in Iceland and the only one who had THX system installed in it´s screens. Usually all the premiers used to be screened at this Cinema and were often called "European Premiers". This cinema did have a great impact on the Icelandic cinema culture being the largest Cinema and with all the new releases screened there.
