Private Landmannalaugar Superjeep Exploration

A private tour is ideal for families or groups of friends who simply are looking to have a great time together. Skip the part where you need to wait for a pick up and switch busses and jump right into the adventure with your own driver guide and vehicle. A luxury which if you are a bigger group is not even more expensive than joining a scheduled tour.

Once you leave Reykjavik you move south and drive along the south coast of Iceland. After while you turn land inwards where you will get into the highlands and see a new and unrealistic view. We pass volcanic lakes and surreal landscapes while getting a good look at the always menacing Hekla volcano. Once you arrive in Landmannalaugar you will have the chance to hike and afterwards soak in a natural hot spring, so bring your swimsuit and a towel. The service facilities include showers and toilets so you can enjoy this part of the tour. Be aware that the pool is a short walk from the facilities. So you can either change right by the pool or change in the facilities and walk about 50 meters to the pool. Should have forgotten something you have the chance to buy something at the local store which is an old school bus turned store.

On the way we visit Þjórsárdalur valley, with its stunningly diverse and colourful landscapes. Here we also visit the reconstructed medieval farmhouse Þjóðveldisbærinn Stöng ( "Stöng Commonwealth farm"). The farm is believed to have been buried under volcanic ash in 1104 and was reconstructed in 1974 for Iceland´s 1100 year anniversary.
