Well, we really dropped the ball there. We’ve been operating since 1945 and are one of the leading DMC’s in Iceland. However, our core focus has always been on organizing and providing experiences to travel agencies visiting Iceland. So even though we’ve had over 10 million happy visitors join our tours, they’ve likely booked through one of our partners.

Only in recent years did we open direct booking through our site. You could say we are “new” to providing our services directly to travelers. And we’re overjoyed about it!

Now we are turning our eyes directly to the traveler, that’s you, and offering a variety of custom made trips and organized tours easily accessible to individuals. Due to traffic restrictions in the city center, your pickup location may not be directly in front of your hotel or accommodation but rather the closest bus stop. 

It’s important that you provide the complete address of your accommodation when booking your tour and our convenient system will provide you with the closest pick-up location if direct pickup is not possible at your accommodation. 

A good example is Hótel Óðinsvé where you’ll be guided to Bus Stop 8 at Hallgrímskirkja. To make it easy to find we’ve put together locations of all city center bus stops.

All our vehicles are easily recognizable, displaying the distinctive Snæland Travel logo and a sign in the window with the tour name.

First things first, have your correct email and phone number listed with us upon booking your tour so we can contact you if we run into any trouble finding you.

Pickup usually starts 30 minutes before the tour departure time. The exact information is provided in your booking. Please be ready at your pickup stop from the start of the pickup time indicated to avoid any delays, as you might be the first pickup of the day.

We do welcome participants of all ages, however we do not recommend consecutive multi-day tours for children under the age of five due to the long days.

Travelers of all ages join our tour on the regular. If you have difficulty participating in any of the activities included in any of the tours, you are welcome to hang back and skip it.

Our Private Tours are popular with a diverse crowd of travelers. Families, especially those with younger children who may need more time and attention, benefit from traveling on their own schedule and with a dedicated driver, while cruise ship and layover passengers enjoy fully using their limited time on land without having to compromise and adjust to scheduled tours.

Travelers who are looking to avoid the crowds at all cost and travel in more luxury and style also greatly enjoy our private tours and the flexibility and control it comes with. If you feel like extending your time a bit at one location or skipping another, all you need to do is talk to your driver. 

The beauty of our private tours is that hotel pickup and drop-off services within Reykjavík capital area are included with all private tours. Please note that groups of six people or more may be affected by Icelandic law which prohibits using larger vehicles within some streets in Reykjavik’s downtown area. In that case you may have to be picked up at your accommodation’s nearest bus stop. Most downtown hotels are within a 5 minute walking distance from bus stops. 

When booking your tour our convenient system will provide you with the closest pick-up location if direct pickup is not possible at your accommodation for the vehicle required for your group size.
