Once everyone is onboard, we will take you south-eastwards towards the south coast of Iceland for a day full of amazing views and experiences.
Seljalandsfoss
Our first stop of the day is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls. This 60-metre-high waterfall is unique in that visitors can walk behind the cascading water, offering a memorable experience. Just remember to wear water-resistant clothing, as there is considerable spray from the waterfall.
Skógafoss Waterfall
A little further east along the coast and at the foot of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano is the breathtaking Skógafoss Waterfall. This powerful cascade drops 60 meters and spans 25 meters in width, creating a stunning spectacle. You can climb to the top for breathtaking views or explore the base to feel the waterfall's mist. Skógafoss is not only visually impressive but also rich in legend and history, making it a must-visit stop on our journey. Don't miss the chance to capture unforgettable photos at this iconic location.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Next, Discover the unique beauty of Reynisfjara. This world-renowned black sand beach is famous for its impressive basalt columns, powerful Atlantic waves, and the striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Your guide might share a folklore or two and information about these geological formations at this legendary location.
Vík Village to Our Accommodation
We continue our travels through the picturesque village of Vík, nestled beneath the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, onwards to our accommodation. The drive from Vík is a stunning journey along Iceland's southern coast. You'll traverse dramatic black sand deserts and pass through fields of green, moss-covered lava. The route includes views of majestic glaciers, such as Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier, and the scenic Skaftafell National Park. You'll cross glacial rivers and picturesque countryside, with the landscape constantly changing. Our accommodation is just east of the glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón, which we will explore in detail on day two.
Northern Lights
We stay overnight in a country hotel, providing an ideal environment to view the Northern Lights due to minimal light pollution, as there is no city nearby. From September through March, if the skies are clear and the aurora forecast is favorable, we can watch the magic of the Northern Lights directly from the hotel. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and their appearance cannot be guaranteed.
