Reykjavík City Tour
A shuttle will pick you up in Reykjavik half an hour before departure, or between 12:30 and 13:00. So this tour is ideal if you had an early arrival or simply like to sleep in. Next, we take off and explore the historical and architectural side of the city of Reykjavik. This includes the Pearl, which is a giant glass sphere built over the city´s hot water storage tanks.
On top of the pearl you find a viewing platform which allows you to see Reykjavik and the surrounding cities, a great place to take some panoramic pictures. If you are lucky a plane may just be landing at the domestic airport which is right next to the pearl, a unique view as the plane flies rather close over the city before landing. The same of course also applies to planes taking off.
The fairy tale like Hallgrimskirkja Church, the old town of Reykjavik, and the Reykjavik harbour next to Harpa concert hall which was opened in 2011. You will hopefully also get a view of Esja, Reykjavik´s mountain which is very popular for a small hike amongst Icelanders. The tour takes about 3 hours ending around 16:00. This leaves you the rest of the afternoon to explore Reykjavik on your own. Be sure to visit one of the numerous museums of your choice, and check out the popular design stores downtown!
